My version of the Moral argument

http://metacrock.blogspot.com/2016/05/the-counter-apologiost-attacks-moral.html I know nothing about this guy, who calls himself "counter apologist:" (I'll call him CA) except that he is a philosophy student somewhere in the US.I don't know graduate or undergraduate, I will say this for him, he's a good student. He is arguing against the moral argument for the existence of God as it is ran by William Lane Craig, so it is a modified version of divine command theory. The basic argument says: (1) if God exists, there are objective moral values (2) there are objective moral values (3) therefore God exists. This is a lousy argument. I will say it up front. I never argue this it's just a bad expression of a moral argument that I have to wonder if he isn't making straw man hat is except it is a version WLC uses. I can't fault the guy but one does wonder why he doesn't take on Kant's moral argument? My contention is that this argument is i...

The Trace of God by Joseph Hinman:My Book, on Amazon

Here is where the graphic should be. See the look of he book and order it on amazon. Arguments for God from religious experience have always been considered a secondary level of argument. It's always been assumed that their subjective nature makes them weak arguments. The atheist is scared to death of subjectivity. This work, compiling empirical scientific studies that show that religious experience is not the result of emotional instability but are actually good for one psychologically, constitutes a ground breaking work that places religious experiences on a higher level. The Trace of God is an exposition (445 pages) employing both philosophical investigation and social science research. The book analyzes and discusses a huge body of empirical research that has up to this point been primarily known only in circles of psychology of religion, and has been over looked by theology, apologetics, Philosophy of religion and more general discipline of psychology. This body of work n...

Atheist Put up or shut up

in comment sectionatheist says:"When Christians show they can actually offer real arguments, rather than question begging and shifting the burden of proof, I might pay attention to it. When all they have is Christianity is true because Christianity is true I will treat it with the contempt it deserves." Answer: Put em up again get to refutting 1. Something exists. 2. Whatever exists does so either because it exists eternally or because it's existence is dependent upon some prior cause or set of circumstances. 3.If all things that exist are dependent for their existnece there is no actual explanation of causes 4. Therefore, there exists at least one eternal thing 5. The one eternal thing is the logical explanation for all causally dependent things 6.Any eternally existing cause of all things is worthy of the appellation "God." 7. Therefore God exists.

Jesus Being The Source Of Wisdom Is Evidence Of His Divinity

The Old Testament affirms that God is the source of all wisdom and understanding:         "With Him are wisdom and might; to Him belong counsel and understanding." (Job 12:13)         "Daniel said, “Let the name of God be blessed forever and ever, for wisdom and power belong to Him. “It is He who changes the times and the epochs; He removes kings and establishes kings; He gives wisdom to wise men and knowledge to men of understanding. “It is He who reveals the profound and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with Him. “To You, O God of my fathers, I give thanks and praise, for You have given me wisdom and power; even now You have made known to me what we requested of You, for You have made known to us the king’s matter.” (Daniel 2:20-23)         The New Testament affirms that all knowledge and wisdom come from Christ Himself:       ...

An Ontological Argument from the Nature of Being Itself

Image
"The name of infinite and inexhaustible depth and ground of our being is God. That depth is what the word God means. And if that word has not much meaning for you, translate it, and speak of the depths of your life, of the source of your being, of your ultimate concern, of what you take seriously without any reservation. Perhaps, in order to do so, you must forget everything traditional that you have learned about God, perhaps even that word itself. For if you know that God means depth, you know much about Him. You cannot then call yourself an atheist or unbeliever. For you cannot think or say: Life has no depth! Life itself is shallow. Being itself is surface only. If you could say this in complete seriousness, you would be an atheist; but otherwise you are not." --Paul Tillich,  The Shaking of The Foundations This arguement will make a lot more sense if you read this priliminary page first: God as The Ground of Being Argument: (1) We recognize the same primary ...
