No point here, political or otherwise, but I could not pass up the irony revealed in this article.

I saw this as well. And today I heard about how the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) have euthanised over 12,000 animals (most of whom could have been adopted as pets) between 1998 and 2004. A web site has now been set up at http://www.petakillsanimals.com/petaKillsAnimals.cfm and documentation comes directly from the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The irony is rather rich.
